Sometimes good things come not only in small packages, they come from small places. The back roads and bi-ways of the Fundy Shore are like the map to unexpected treasure. You’ll want to keep your eyes out for studios, little one-of-a-kind shops and for retail experiences nestled amongst the workings of farms and museums. Stop by That Dutchman’s Farm for a visit with the heritage animals and to experience the menu of the cafe – but be sure to pick up a wheel of their inimitable artisan Gouda cheese while you’re there. Or browse through the wealth of amazing goods from handmade quilts to antiques from the agricultural era at Shaw Country Market in Port Greville. Stop in at the Truro Power Centre and take home a hand-woven basket crafted by an Aboriginal artist or one of the other traditional works of art from beaded moccasins to hand-painted Mi’kmaq drums.
If your vacation is not complete with a shopping excursion where you can find the big brands and great selection of a busy retail centre – our towns like Amherst, and Truro have lots to offer in that department , including department stores like Truro’s venerable institution, Margolians.
